About Custom water cooling systems

What is a custom water cooling system?

Basically, a water cooling system use water or ''coolant'' instead of air (fans) to cool down the components of a system. In a computer, the components are the processor (CPU), the graphic card(s) (GPU), the memory (RAM), the hard disk(s) drive(s) (HDD) or solid state drive(s) (SSD) and the chip set of the motherboard. The coolant is pumped by a 12V pump powered by your power supply, to a radiator(s) (cooled down by fans), to your components and then back in a reservoir, to your pump. This is also called a ''loop''. The fans and heat sinks are first all removed from your components to be swap by sealed water blocks connected to your system by tubes. The tubes can be made of PVC (soft tubing) or Acrylic (hard tubing). At CUSTOM WATER COOLING, we just use acrylic tubing and i'll explain why.

PVC tubing is easier to work with becose it doesn't require specific tools other than cisors to cut and install. But after a while, the chemicals of the PVC react with the coolant and stain build up in your system and your fluid go darker. It also loose effiency to cool down the system properly. You need to drain your system and change liquid every 6 months or so with PVC tubing.

Acrylic tubing, on the other hand, require some more technical expertise. You need to heat the tube and "bend" it to build your system. Acrylic tubing does not stain like PVC so the cooling performance of your system never drop. It also look a lot more clean and organised than PVC when its done professionally. And CUSTOM WATER COOLING  is all about that. We build professional acrylic tubing system who will be always straight, safe and flawless. An other important thing is we shape the tubes perfectly to reach the point A to point B in each run. That means we don't need to use all the differents expensives extra couplings and fittings to achieve the runs. A coupling also restraint the flow a lot more than a clean bend.

Why water cooling?

First of all, water (coolant) have better properties for cooling than air. In other words, it drop down the temperature of your components lower than fan/heat sink does. It becomes crucial to drop the temperature for high demanding gaming system especially if you want to ''overclock'' your components, wich means increasing the voltage for better performances. But increasing voltage unfortunately also increase wattage so more heat. A water cooling system can handle all that heat easily and really make you enjoy the full potential of your gaming system overclocked or not, comparing to fan/heatsink systems.

In addition to be more efficient, its also more quiet. In fact. the fans of the radiator don't need to run fast like the typical ''fan/heat sink noise'', especially if you have more than one radiator in your loop. After a few minutes, the radiator(s) stabilize the whole system at the same temperature. (So you can put a temperature sensor anywhere in the loop to monitor it). Once the system stabilized, your case sounds just like a stable whisper in unisson from the radiator(s) fans with a lot of potential for higher RPM.

Is it safe?

The answer is yes if its done properly by a professional like CUSTOM WATER COOLING. People can get easily scared by seeing water running in a computer case but in fact, the water never come in contact with your components. It runs in sealed blocks wich are in contact with the component usually by a copper plate. Of course it have tons of different water block quality and prices on the market. CUSTOM WATER COOLING will only pick the best quality water blocks for you. Idem for the pump/reservoir, radiator(s) and connectors. Who would take the risk and buy cheap parts when time come to build a such system anyway..?

Complete customization

You tell us what you want and we build it

Standard set up

This usual set up consist to hook up just the processor (CPU) and the graphic card (GPU) in the loop. On this particular set-up, the builder decided to hook the radiator at the bottom.

2 GPU set up

If you run 2 GPU (or more) in SLI or Crossfire configuration, it is also possible to hook them on the loop. We can use linking block like on this particular build or simply connect them together with a short length of tubing.

Complete set up

We can build a complete custom loop including the processor (CPU) the graphic card(s) (GPU), the memory (RAM), the storage device(s) (HDD or SSD) and even the motherboard chips set (if not restrained by GPU)
